Please
remember as you approach the beginning of a new year. "What you want to
do" is less important than "What you want" If you can figure out "what
you want", you go do whatever you have to do to get it.
“It's no use saying, "We are doing our best." You have got to succeed in doing what is necessary.”
― Winston S. Churchill
If people would pursue "what they want" instead of "what they want to do" they would be much happier in the process.
It is wonderful to think that doing "what you wan to do" will give you happiness. However, if it does not provide "what you want" it rings hollow over time. Those who want to lose weight do not necessarily want to diet. But they do, to get what they want.
As an author, I do not want to sit down behind a laptop and write. What I want is a book. In order to get the book I have to do what I do not necessarily want to do. You get the idea.
Here is the exciting part; if you pursue "what you want", regardless of "wanting to do the activity to get it" you will go to bed each night knowing that you are on your way to making your dreams come true.
“You are never given a dream without also being given the power to make it true. You may have to work for it, however.”
― Richard Bach
